One of the most iconic piano music venues of the area was the Village Vanguard, which opened its doors in 1935 and has hosted some of the world's most influential jazz musicians, such as John Coltrane and Miles Davis. The Vanguard has been a popular live music venue ever since, and its influence is still felt in the area today. Other important venues include the Blue Note, Birdland, and the original Knitting Factory. These venues have all played a vital role in the development of jazz music in SoHo, and continue to be a hotbed for jazz and contemporary music today.
